2010 Program of Work
Legislative Initiatives
Goal: Further our legislative platform: Rail, Reading, Revenue, and Roads
Goal: Assist sponsoring Chambers of Commerce and Economic Development Corporations in growing business in our area.
Goal: Seek to make the Best Southwest name better known in the Metroplex and beyond through positive media coverage.
Goal: Promote life long learning opportunities for the area; Support the education pipeline from elementary through post graduate studies.

- Project - Advocate transportation issues for the area.
- Project - Host Thank God Its Friday (TGIF) Legislative Breakfast Series for Federal, State, and County elected officials during 2010.
- Project - Coordinate a Best Southwest “visibility “event.
- Project - Establish a Call-to-Action network to get legislative results.
Goal: Assist sponsoring Chambers of Commerce and Economic Development Corporations in growing business in our area.
- Project - Protect local determination for 4a and 4b sales tax uses.
- Project - Sponsor quarterly luncheons hosted by the combined chambers of commerce, bringing high profile speakers to the area.
Goal: Seek to make the Best Southwest name better known in the Metroplex and beyond through positive media coverage.
- Project - Utilize state of the art technology to share the Best Southwest message.
- Project - Host an annual “Newly Elected Officials” reception.
- Project - Partner with Metroplex agencies to Brand the Best Southwest message.
- Project - Utilize Best of the Southwest website as a place to provide information to the public on our region.
- Project - Produce a calendar of events of area chamber events to be published online.
Goal: Promote life long learning opportunities for the area; Support the education pipeline from elementary through post graduate studies.
- Project - Provide financial and technical support for the Southern Dallas County Educational Consortium.
- Project - Provide support for logistics, international trade and sustainability programs at area educational institutions.
- Project - Facilitate Best Southwest Independent School District Superintendent’s Forum.
- Project - Present an annual briefing to members of the City Councils on our activities.
- Project - Support an increased Parkland presence in the region.
